Brief
This commission came from family of English composer, Richard Seager.
The guiding concept of the cabinet is to showcase Richard Seager's love of music and the piece he composed for this wife before his passing.
The exterior cabinet design is rectangular and akin to a credenza or sideboard.
Solid maple wood as the main material - the same wood that is traditionally used in making the body of a cello. Which the piece that Richard composed for his wife was intended for.
This design is inspired by the work of composer Cornelius Cardew (1936–1981) an English experimental music composer. He is famously known for his graphical scores of the piece Treatise.
We collaborated with visual artist and composer Thalia Morey on the visual translation of Richard’s piece.
The commission is in the family’s private collection now part.
Made from solid American Maple, red Valchromat and maple veneer.
